The block model of learning by Victoria University (VU) – available in their Sydney Campus

Have you heard about the Victoria University block model of learning? It’s basically a way of studying where you only do one unit at a time rather than juggling several at once.

Their block model of learning is also designed to make sure students are ready to enter the workforce – delivering career-focused activities and programs that you won’t find elsewhere.

Under the VU Block Model of learning:

  • Pass rates increased.
  • Student grades increased.
  • Distinctions and High Distinctions have gone up.
  • Small classes with plenty of one-on-one time with teachers.

This innovative approach resulted on Victoria University winning this year’s innovation award from the International Education Association of Australia (IEAA). The acknowledgement is for its widely-observed first year college and block teaching model.

“The model has significant benefits for international students by fostering inclusion and a deeper sense of belonging from the moment they begin their VU journey,” the IEAA says.
